The Experience
Step into the sauna, step into the mist, step back into yourself. The Stillhouse ritual blends ancient tradition, coastal spirit, and modern science into one simple cycle: heat, cold, breath, repeat.
Sauna is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. In Finland, they say the sauna is the “original medicine cabinet”— and modern research agrees.
Inside the sauna, heat exposure raises your core temperature, stimulating heat shock proteins that repair cells, reduce inflammation, and boost resilience. Your heart rate increases as if you’re doing light exercise, circulation improves, and your body releases endorphins.
When you step out and cool down, the contrast resets your nervous system. The oscillation between hot and cold acts like interval training for your blood vessels and cardiovascular system — strengthening your heart while calming your mind.
Hydrotherapy
For public sessions, we use a traditional cold bucket shower ritual — bracing & refreshing. It’s a flash of clarity, a clean rinse, and a joyful reset.
For private rentals, the full cold immersion tub is available. Immersion plunging activates brown fat (your body’s internal furnace), helps regulate blood sugar, boosts dopamine, and can even increase pain tolerance. The Finns call it “avantouinti” — ice swimming — but here on the Oregon Coast, it’s fog, fire, and plunge.
Backed by research:
Boosts dopamine by up to 250%
Reduces stress hormones (cortisol, adrenaline)
Improves cardiovascular health & circulation
Speeds recovery for sore muscles & joints
Enhances sleep quality
Supports immune system
And the “woo woo” (but you’ll feel it):
Clears stagnant energy (like emotional detox)
Sharpens intuition & creativity
Deepens connection to self and community
Invites spiritual reset — “like being reborn from the mist”
